Lesson Plans
The integration of mobile technologies in our everyday lessons can greatly improve the academic level in our students. There are a tremendous amount of lessons that we can do with our students using many different mobile technologies. These are only very few of the lesson that can be used in our classrooms. The mobile technologies used in these lessons are the mobile phone and a handheld device palm. The link provided at the end of each lesson will give you more detail of the lesson and the mobile technology used.
Lesson 1: Creative Writing
In this lesson, we will use a mobile phone and special software, Scratch, to engage third grade students in creative writing. The students will create their own greeting card and send it to a friend. With the software the students will be able to track how their greeting card was spread among their friends. Lesson 2: Social Science Inquiry
In this lesson we will use an AskMobi tool in the classroom to make a survey, analyze the data and share their results. Eighth grade students can engage in finding out different views on one topic. Students will survey on one question that they have about a law or issue in the society. They will first develop a question using AskMobi. After they develop the question, they will present a hypothesis to their question. Once they have presented a hypothesis they will start a survey. When they have received the results from the survey they will analyze the results and share it with others. Lesson 3: Free-Writing
This free-writing will allow the students to become stronger when brainstorming for a composition. Fourth grade students will use a handheld device, Palm, to write a response to a reading of an article. The students will compose fairytales from their typing and be able to beam the fairytales around in the classroom to other students. The student receiving the beam will add to the fairytale.
